The Royal Irish Yacht Club is one of Ireland’s leading yacht clubs. Founded in 1831, the clubhouse is the first purpose-built yacht club in the world. The building is now a listed structure and retains to this day all its original architectural features combined with state of the art facilities for sailors both ashore and afloat. The club looks out onto Dun Laoghaire Harbour and Dublin Bay and the town of Dun Laoghaire is within walking distance.
The club and its facilities will be at your disposal throughout the Championship. At the ground floor (front entrance level) you will find the main bar, drawing room and toilets. Access to the lower level is just to the left inside the main door of the club, or down the slope to the left of the clubhouse. On the lower level (deck level) you will find changing rooms, toilets and the Wet Bar. These are accessible either from the deck or from inside the building.
Please ensure that all sailors arrive with a packed lunch. There are a range of options available to eat at the club, please see more details here [link to catering page]
Changing rooms are accessible from the deck, and also from the basement level indoors. Please do not leave any valuables in the changing rooms. The changing rooms have plenty of showers and toilets, with addition toilets available on the ground floor opposite the main bar. Please bear in mind that other sailors will also be using the changing rooms at different times, so we ask that competitors pack everything into their bags and leave them zipped up so that we can stack sailing bags when children are out on the water. No personal belongings should be left in the changing rooms or the Clubhouse overnight.
Viking Marine will be available on the deck during the event, and their shop is just a short walk from the club
Event registration and measurement and Competitor and Support Boat briefings will take place in the Wet Bar of the club on the deck level.
Notifications made Ashore
Any notifications to competitors will be posted on the official noticeboard on the deck (between the doors to the changing rooms) or at the additional noticeboard at the main stairs leading to the deck from the terrace, under the yard arm. Any flag notifications will be flown from the main yard arm on the deck.
In front of the Club is restricted to members only and is closed to all on Wednesday 16th August. There is ample parking in the area, please see more details here.
There is no secure storage at the club for valuables. Valuables should not be left in the changing rooms or unattended at any time in the club. The Club will not accept any responsibility for the loss or damage of any personal items.
